Maybe I Need to Get Myself a New Teddy Bear?!?

This is what I was reading this evening...

http://www.firstourselves.org/2012/missing-link-overeating/

It just makes me want a good cuddle with one of my kids, or Trevor, or a teddy bear!! lol

p.s. I'm listening to the first lesson in session four right now (its an audio recording by Karly) - and I LOVE it so much.  She is just so enjoyable to listen to - so peaceful and encouraging and understanding.  I just want give her a big hug every time I listen to her!  :)   Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I am on to session four ... I'll keep you posted!

Why People Gain Weight... a video from Dr. Barbara Berkeley

I follow a blog called "Refuse to Regain" and today, there was a very interesting article posted by Dr. Barbara Berkeley with a video lecture (unfortunately it seems to have been recorded in her daughter's bedroom!  haha) that I thought I would share with you.  Barbara is an internist who specializes in the care of overweight and obese patients.  It may be a little long, but I found her take on weight gain to be very interesting - and also a great explanation as to why some people can eat a whole cheesecake without gaining weight, while others merely have to LOOK at that cheesecake to gain 5 pounds.  Anyway, give it a watch if you have some time...

((Okay, apparently the video links just aren't working!! So, here is the link to HER post, where the videos can also be found... http://refusetoregain.com/refusetoregain/2011/12/what-causes-weight-gain-my-take.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+RefuseToRegain+%28Refuse+To+Regain%29&utm_content=Google+International ))

Well, Hello There!

I canNOT believe that its been three and a half months since I have posted here!!  Honestly, that is insane.  One might be lead to believe that I have given up altogether on WW and that I am gaining weight hopelessly.  Thankfully, that is not the case.  I have been plugging away since November - doing what was my best at the time to eat what I should and still live my life.  And the result has been to maintain the weight I was in November.
I joined Weight Watchers Online in November, and honestly I have really been liking it for many reasons.  However, the reason that I initially joined was to find a support group of people who would hold me accountable and stick with me, and that is the one thing I am not impressed with the WW online for.  I feel like a total island - no one knows I'm there, and so I could disappear and no one would care or call me on it.  And that is not good.  So, that is something I'm still searching for me in my life - an accountability system (of people who are like me or who understand what it is like).
But the thing I DO like about WW online is the way it is set up for tracking what you eat and when you exercise and how it calcluates point for you - especially the way it calculates points even of recipes you make and things. There is no more excuse to not know the number of points of something you're eating!  I love that.
Anyway, that is what I have been up to around here.  I was recently inspired to start blogging about my weight loss/food addiction issues again by a blog I came across called Diary of a Fat Dad.  It is inspiring to me that he lays it all out there for the world to read and is honest about his thoughts and feelings.  I admit that I have often used this blog as a place to post when I'm doing well, or close to doing well - and not so much when I struggle.  But that is HARD to do - to lay it all out there.  I have been inspired to try anyway.  But for now, I'm just here - making sure my blog hasn't disappeared - and saying hello.   I'm not committing to anything yet, just saying that I'm thinking about it!
Oh, and p.s. another blog I'm loving these days is a friend of mine's from high school - she's on a mission to turn herself into a slim and muscular goddess or something! :)  You can check her blog out here - called Chunky Monkey: Slaying the Fat Monster.  :)
That's it for now!

Ummm... I mean a Facebook GROUP!

Well, we had some issues with the facebook page and not having the privacy that we'd hoped for.  So, we changed it to being a group instead.  If you're interested in checking it out, you can click HERE to go see it.  Of course, you won't actually be able to see it unless you join, but you can request to join there if you're interested.
It looks like it might also be turning into a mini WW online, which is exciting to me.  A lot of people can't afford the real thing, so this is a chance for us to have a similar thing, without the cost.  Again, if you're interested at all, let me know and I'll make sure you are added to the group!
Just thought I'd let you know whats going on with Track and Train 2010! :)

Facebook Page

Wow, look at me go with two posts in one day!! :)
I just thought I'd let you know that I did create a facebook page.  I'm not totally sure, but I think how it works is that if you click that you like the page, then whenever anyone writes on it, it will show up in your newsfeed... is that right?  Guess we'll just have to try it out and see how it works.  If you have any friends that would like to be a part of the fun, feel free to send them the link too.
Here it is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Track-and-Train-2010/144562302240862?v=wall
Check it out and feel free to join if you're interested in being a part of the fun!

WW Success Story

I really liked this success story that I read today and thought I'd share it with you:
http://www.weightwatchers.ca/success/art/index.aspx?SuccessStoryId=7121&sc=17

I think the main reason I loved it is that this lady lost 115 pounds (!!!) and it took her 3 years to do it. She said most of her losses were about 1/2 pound per week, and that the important thing is to not give up. I needed to hear that, because it can be frustrating for me a lot of times when other people I know can lose like 2 pounds per week as soon as they put their minds to it. I'm a slower loser, and that can be frustrating, so it was nice to hear this lady's story.

To keep you posted, I'm on Day 36 today. I realized that it was becoming a little too "optional" for me to try to be perfect for these 50 consecutive days, and the way I was going, it could've ended up taking 365 days to do my 50 days of perfection! :o) So, Trevor and I agreed that if I could do the last 37 days actual in a row - then I will buy myself a new pair of jeans at the end as a reward. So, I'm on it - I did the last 2 days right, which was tough! We decided this at 4:00 on Saturday, and I had only 6 and a 1/2 points left for the day and was having a friend over to watch a movie that evening too!! But I pulled it off and managed through yesterday too.

I'll be going to WW tomorrow and weighing in - and hopefully staying for the meeting too. I'm realizing more and more that the meetings are a huge part of my success... so I'll do my best to go - even if I have 2 crazy kids in tow, I guess!

but, the kids are up to something, so i'd better run... Bye! :o)

The "Is That Contestant on American Idol a Christian Scorecard"

I'm excited to say that I'm participating in a mass guest post event put on by Jonathan Acuff of Stuffchristianslike.net today. And happily, it is combining one of my favorite tv shows right now with one of my favorite blogs! Over 130 different blogs will each hold one part of the "Is That Contestant on American Idol a Christian Scorecard" - so it'll kind of end up being similar to a progressive dinner that we used to do at youthgroup. :o)

Here is my bit of the scorecard:

68. They mention that they are wearing a “purity ring” = + 3 points.

To add up your score with over a 130 other ideas on this scorecard, visit stuffchristianslike.net.

Yummy Butternut Squash Soup

I made one of my favorite recipes for supper yesterday - a delicious Butternut Squash Soup that I highly recommend to everyone! It is super low in points and super delicious - SUPER delicious. (Like, Trevor stole my leftovers for his lunch today even though its my "weight watchers" soup delicious!) If you check out the link, and try it out, I recommend omitting the frying in butter part at the beginning - you can just cook the veggies in the soup broth instead, omitting a ton of calories. Also, I baked the squash in the oven first, and then its MUCH easier to peel. And last, I seasoned it with salt and pepper, like the recipe says, but then also added cinnamon and brown sugar, and VOILA - its awesome. And very very few point for a very filling and delicious meal!

Today's Points:
Treadmill +1
French Toast and OJ -5
donut bite -1
nuts -2
1/2 granola bar -1
cookie -2
strawberries -1
casserole and soup -4
cookie -2
nuts -1
chicken, potatoes, and salad -7
cupcake -3
coffee -1
snack -4
fruit crisps (and the LAST snack of the day!!!) -2
LEFT:-11

On a Slightly Different Note

I read a post about HOPE today on the Stuff Christians Like site, and liked it enough to share it with you... click HERE to go read it.
p.s. I'm still here and alive - just not tracking online at the moment... finding it tricky to get my points on my blog throughout the day and that is offhandedly messing me up - so I think I might go back to tracking on paper... and maybe (?) reporting the end results here to you all at the end of the day? or at least the totals? Hmmm... I'll have to think about that.
Oh, and on another note, today is my last day at Boston Pizza, and I'm planning on ordering my favorite thing during my break tonight, since it'll be my last chance to eat there for 1/2 price... but I'll try to only eat 1/2 and take the other 1/2 home... :o)
Then starting tomorrow, its back to being a Stay-at-Home-Mom for me! (well, a working-part-time-at-home-mom, anyway)

An Excellent Idea

Check this article out if you have any time:
http://donmilleris.com/2010/01/01/living-a-good-story-an-alternative-to-new-years-resolutions/

Its about how making new year's resolutions rarely works, and how to "live a good story" instead - which sounds like a great idea to me. I'm going to give it some thought and try to follow his steps to planning a story for myself for this year!
:o)

Happy New Years!

I just read this article about surviving New Years Eve and I liked it, so I thought I'd share.

http://www.weightwatchers.ca/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=36631&sc=3046

Check it out!
On a side note, I went to WW on Tuesday and, after allowing myself a Christmas splurge, had gained another 1.6 pounds over the past one month. Which, really isn't bad at all, considering! But the bad part is that I have gained about 1.5 pounds per month for about 7 months now... and that is adding up! SO, I purchased myself some coupons for WW on Tuesday, so that I will be forced to go more often... this way its already paid for, so I don't have to dish out the money and I also don't have to stand in the line to pay before I stand in the line to weigh. So, that will be good. I now have 7.2 pounds to lose to get back to going to the meetings for free. I have 7 coupons left - which I can use one/month or one/week or however often I decide to go. But, I have decieded to get back to weight loss mode and out of "maintenance" mode - which wasn't really working so well for me, anyway!! :o) I wrote everything down yesterday - and didn't even use one bonus point! I'm writing things down today and am planning on using several bonus points tonight, because we have much yummy food planned for new years eve.

Anyway, that's where I'm at today and thought I'd share. I hope you all have a great New Year's Eve and a wonderful year in 2010! :o)

How Refreshing!

My friend Tara posted a link on Facebook today that I thought I'd share here because its so nice and refreshing - a picture from Glamour magazine of a "normal" looking woman! HOORAY! Its so rare to see - in fact, I've NEVER seen a picture of a mommy tummy like this published in a way that makes it look beautiful. How nice. Just thought I'd share. If you'd like to view the article that I got the pic from, the link is posted below, or you can just click here.
Here's to having a mommy tummy and being PROUD of it! :o)

Baby Harper

Just about 2 weeks ago, I published a post asking people to pray for Baby Harper. If you're at all interested, I recommend checking her story out... all I can say is that it has reminded me that prayer really does work. I have to admit I was a doubter when this all started, but click on te box below and check out where she's at today:

Awesome stuff.

Just a Few Things

Yesterday Kelly at Kelly's Korner gave birth to her first baby - a girl named Harper. But there were unexpected complications and if you are a praying kind of person, please remember this little baby today. You can read more at:

Also, just wanted you to know that I got up again yesterday to do the treadmill and then I've also already been on it today and I'm loving it. I think that maybe - just maybe - I'm losing weight this week! Hooray.

A First For Me

This morning, I got up before the kids and got on my treadmill for 1/2 an hour of alternating walking and jogging. Yes, that is a first for me to get up before the kids and exercise. I like it. I feel good now.

Also, I'm copying Amanda, and am going to attempt the "Couch to 5K" program in order to gradually increase the amount of jogging I'm capable of doing. I was looking for a program to follow, and I'm excited to give this a try. So far, so good.

Just had to share.
